Mobile 511 Site Help

Home Page

Florida's 511 Mobile website (mobile.FL511.com) gives users all the same traffic information available on FL511.com and the 511 phone system. Users can access incidents, traffic camera images, overhead message boards and travel times for many of Florida's major highways. The site also has links to transit agencies and other travel websites throughout the state.

The 511 mobile site can be accessed from any web-enabled phone, including smartphones (like Android, Blackberry and iPhone). The text-based site loads more quickly, giving users faster access to important traffic information. FL511.com does not automatically detect mobile browsers, so mobile users will have to enter the entire address (URL).

Click "Home" from anywhere on the mobile site to return to the Home Page.

Incidents

Clicking "Incidents" on the Home Page allows you to view current roadway incidents across Florida. Drop-down menus allow you to filter information by event type, severity, region, county, highway and direction. Choosing an option from any drop-down menu and clicking "Filter" will cause the lower drop-down menus to only display options fitting your filtered criteria. For example, selecting "Southeast Florida" from the Region menu and clicking "Filter" will cause all the Counties and Highways menus to display only options relevant to Southeast Florida. If there is no incident that meets your filter criteria, nothing will show in the lower dropdown menus. For example, if you choose the Northeast region and click filter, only the counties or roadways with active incidents will display on the lower dropdowns. If there are no incidents in the Northeast region, no highways or counties will appear in those dropdowns. Creating impossible filters (choosing a highway then a region through which that highway does not run) will reset the lower filter automatically.

Event Type allows you to specify the type of incident you want to search for, including incidents, congestion, construction or severe weather. Not specifying an event type will display all types.

Severity lets you search for minor, intermediate or major incidents — or those for which the severity is unknown. You will only be shown the incidents that match your selected severity, so if you choose Major, you will only see incidents listed with a major severity. Not specifying a severity will display all severity types.

  • Major incidents have caused lanes to be blocked for more than two hours, or have caused total road blockage on the reported road.
  • Intermediate incidents have blocked one or more lanes for between half an hour and two hours.
  • Minor incidents have blocked one or more lanes for less than half an hour.
  • Unknown incidents are those which 511 doesn't have enough information to categorize.

Region allows you to restrict your incident search to a certain region of Florida. If you select a certain region, then click "Filter," the county, highway and direction drop-down menus will only display options within your selected region with active incidents. Not specifying a region will display all regions with incidents.

County allows you to restrict your incident search to a certain Florida county. If you select a county, then click "Filter," the highway and direction drop-down menus will only display options within your selected county with active incidents. Not specifying a county will display all counties with incidents in a search. If a county is not in the drop-down menu, that means there are no incidents to report in that county.

Highway allows you to restrict your incident search to one Florida highway. If you select a certain highway, then click "Filter," the direction drop-down menu will only display the direction(s) for your selected highway with active incidents. Not specifying a highway will display all highways with incidents.

Direction allows you to restrict your incident search to a certain direction of travel on your specified highway. Not specifying a direction will display incidents in either highway direction.

Once you've chosen all your preferences in all the drop-down menus, press "Go!" to display a list of all relevant incidents. A description, start time and severity of each incident will be displayed.

Message Boards

Clicking "Message Boards" allows you to view messages being displayed on overhead message signs along Florida roadways. Drop-down menus allow you to filter information by region, highway and direction. Choosing an option from any drop-down menu and clicking "Filter" will cause the lower drop-down menus to only display options fitting your filtered criteria. For example, selecting "Tampa Bay" from the Region menu and clicking "Filter" will cause all other menus to display only options relevant to the Tampa Bay area.

Region allows you to restrict your message board search to a certain region of Florida. If you select a certain region, then click "Filter," the highway and direction drop-down menus will only display options within your selected region. Not specifying a region will display all regions with message boards in a search.

Highway allows you to restrict your message board search to one Florida highway. If you select a certain highway, then click "Filter," the direction drop-down menu will only display options within your selected highway. Not specifying a highway will display all highways with message boards.

Direction allows you to restrict your message board search to a certain direction of travel on your specified highway. Not specifying a direction will display message boards in either highway direction.

Once you've chosen all your preferences in all the drop-down menus, press "Go!" to display a list of all relevant messages. A location, highway, direction, Phase 1 (primary message) and Phase 2 (secondary message, if any) for each message board will be displayed. If no information displays it means that roadway does not have any message boards.

For example, a message board may display the following entry:

  • Phase 1: "Call 511 for Real-Time Traffic Reports"
  • Phase 2: "Road Construction Ahead, Next 11 Miles"

This means the message board alternates between displaying those two messages. Message boards with a single static message will list that message in the Phase 1 category, with no Phase 2 message.

Cameras

Clicking "Cameras" allows you to view static images from traffic cameras along Florida roadways. Drop-down menus allow you to filter information by region, highway and direction. Choosing an option from any drop-down menu and clicking "Filter" will cause the lower drop-down menus to only display options fitting your filtered criteria. For example, selecting "I-4" from the Highways menu and clicking "Filter" will cause the Direction menu to display only East and West; it will not change the options under Regions.

Region allows you to restrict your camera search to a certain region of Florida. If you select a certain region, then click "Filter," the highway and direction drop-down menus will only display options within your selected region. Not specifying a region will display all regions with cameras.

Highway allows you to restrict your camera search to one Florida highway. If you select a certain highway, then click "Filter," the direction drop-down menu will only display options within your selected highway. Not specifying a highway will display all highways with cameras.

Direction allows you to restrict your camera search to a certain direction of travel on your specified highway. Not specifying a direction will display cameras in both highway directions.

Once you've chosen all your preferences in all the drop-down menus, press "Go!" to display a list of all relevant cameras. The camera name and highway for each camera will be displayed. Clicking on the camera name will display a current image from the camera. Clicking "More" next to any entry will display all the information for that camera on its own screen. From this screen you may click "Camera Image" to see a current camera image, or "Back" to return to your search results.

Travel Times

Clicking "Travel Times" allows you to view estimated commuter travel times on Florida roadways where they are available. Drop-down menus allow you to filter information by region, highway and direction. Choosing an option from any drop-down menu and clicking "Filter" will cause the lower drop-down menus to only display options fitting your filtered criteria. For example, selecting "Northeast Florida" from the Region menu and clicking "Filter" will cause all other menus to display only options relevant to Northeast Florida.

Region allows you to restrict your travel time search to a certain region of Florida. If you select a certain region, then click "Filter," the highway and direction drop-down menus will only display options within your selected region. Not specifying a region will display all regions with travel times.

Highway allows you to restrict your travel time search to a Florida highway. If you select a certain highway, then click "Filter," the direction drop-down menu will only display options within your selected highway. Not specifying a highway will display all highways with travel times.

Direction allows you to restrict your travel time search to a certain direction of travel on your specified highway. Not specifying a direction will display travel times in either highway directions.

Once you've chosen all your preferences in all the drop-down menus, press "Go!" to display a list of all relevant travel times. The segment name, distance in miles, travel time in minutes and average speed in miles per hour will be displayed for each travel segment.

Each road covered by 511 is broken into segments. The 511 system reports commuter travel times according to these segments. Segments reported by 511 may not exactly match your route and 511 commuter travel times are approximate. You may have to estimate your own travel time based on 511's reported travel time for the entire segment.

Transit

Clicking "Transit" allows you to view links to transit services and airports throughout Florida. Drop-down menus allow you to filter information by region and transit category.

Region allows you to restrict your transit search to a certain region of Florida. Not specifying a region will display statewide agencies.

Category allows you to restrict your transit search to either transit agencies or airport services. Not specifying a category will display both.

Once you've chosen all your preferences in all the drop-down menus, press "Go!" to display links all relevant transit agencies. Click a link to go to that agency's website.

Links

Clicking "Links" allows you to view other useful travel links. Drop-down menus allow you to filter information by region and category.

Region allows you to restrict your link search to a certain region of Florida. Not specifying a region will display all statewide links.

Category allows you to restrict your links search to seaports, tourism agencies, evacuation management agencies, other partners, other 511 services, regional transportation organizations, parking or major event venues. Not specifying a category will display all categories.
